Why Plant-Based Sausage?

Can a sausage be plant-based and still taste good? Absolutely!

People try High Peaks plant-based sausages for all sorts of reasons. What keeps them coming back is the taste.

Plant-based food is having a moment. Research has shown that people who eat more plants experience lower rates of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and some cancers, among other diseases. Given that, what’s not to love about plants?

But let’s unpack that idea of eating more plants for a second—“eating more plants” means Eating. More. Plants. It’s not just about eating more food that’s not beef or chicken or pork.  

That’s important because some meatless sausages out there have been engineered in a lab, and come with ingredients like pea protein isolate, leghemoglobin, methylcellulose, and maltodextrin. And that’s fine if you like engineered meat substitutes…but not so much if you’re trying to add more plants to your diet—or trying to discover the good stuff of life.

At High Peaks, we believe there are no limits to how good life can be. We believe in real food with an integrity to ingredients—ingredients you can pronounce, ingredients you’re familiar with. We’re talking whole-food plant ingredients like white beans, green and red bell peppers, basil, onions, wild mushrooms. No nitrates. No preservatives. No meat.
